Student Testimonial

Katherine Grace

I did the music performance and production course at GTI and was so glad I did. It was a very interesting course that gave me a chance to learn about all aspects of the music industry. I enjoyed the practical aspects of the course and the hands-on experience with live music. All the teachers are very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to explore a career in music. I greatly enjoyed my time at GTI.

Roisin Mulliez

I found this course to be a perfect introduction to the world of music and the many aspects of it- from event planning to melody composition, sound engineering to music industry studies. This course gives you a great opportunity to brush up on your music theory skills or even learn from scratch like I did. We also got to have fun with top class music editing software and make our own songs which was fun. I learned so much and really enjoyed the year!

Dermot O' Hare

The year that I have spent at GTI studying Music Performance and Production has greatly exceeded my expectations. The equipment used on the course is state of the art, with Apple Mac computers and a music keyboard at every desk with software suitable to sound and music. The real surprise this year was the passion and commitment of the tutors, driving the course to much greater heights than the strict confines of the syllabus, forging a team mentality among the group and creating a positive and enjoyable environment in which to learn.

Mark Connolly

I found the time I spent in GTI to be invaluable. From the very first day I was greeted with a warm atmosphere combined with years of experience and an ambition for professionalism. I was given a number of modules which helped us grasp the production of music using digital audio workstations while also learning the theory and practice of music, knowledge I still use today. Given access to DAWs I was taught how a studio is operated. I was also shown how to handle live sound equipment in the form of P.A. systems. All in all, the time I spent in Music Performance and Production Level 5 was the best experience I've ever had in education. I've since gone on to the Level 6 Media Production and have received employment within the media as a sound engineer.

I am currently studying music production and performance in GTI. This course has given me an amazing insight into what it will be like to study music in the future. Before going into this course, I was unsure about what I wanted to study long-term. Now I am going to pursue a 4-year bachelor's degree in music and dance in UL next year. Without this course I would have never known I had such an interest in studying music. I have also gained knowledge on sound engineering and music technology which I had zero experience with before. Thanks to all the amazing teachers I’ve realised through this course that music is what I want to pursue full time.

Bee Parslow

I found the Music Performance and Production course to be extremely helpful as an introduction to everything music based. Even if you already know where you want to go after the course, it's really interesting to learn about the music industry and event production. As a performer I never realised just how much went on behind the curtain. I originally came to the course to be a Sound Engineer but have since found a love for Music Theory and teaching. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who is serious about music and the music industry.

Harold Wolk

During the academic year 2025, I took the Music Performance Course at Galway Technical Institute. After two decades working in another field, I chose to immerse myself in a field of study that I have been involved in, professionally and recreationally for many years. The modules, especially the music theory component, was of particular interest since it will aid and abet my music composing, arranging and documentation.
